Frequently Asked Questions regarding the Code of Ethics Module
The Annual Code of Ethics helps our volunteers ensure the highest quality and standard in providing services to our clients. Completion of the SCORE Code of Ethics is required for all volunteers, including Mentors, Subject-Matter Experts, Workshop Presenters, and Volunteers.
This module is required by all SCORE volunteers to be completed annually. It will be open for volunteers beginning July 1 and must be completed by August 31.
- Provisional Volunteers who joined before July 1 and completed the prior year Code of Ethics module, will need to take the new FY27 module again before August 31.
- Volunteers who remain non-compliant as of September 1, will be moved to an Inactive status and will not be able to receive new clients. As stated in our SOM, should they remain non-compliant as of October 1, they will be dropped as a SCORE Member.
- SCORE Contractors and Vendors do NOT need to complete the Code of Ethics. SCORE HQ works with Panther and other staffing agencies to complete a separate Code of Ethics specific to paid contractors.
- 'Contractor' = an individual paid by SCORE/SCORE Chapters, generally brought in via a staffing agency, that potentially handles administrative content related to client and/or volunteer information.
- 'Vendor' = an organization paid by SCORE/SCORE chapters for tasks not directly related with client information. (ie. website or social media marketing).
