Summary of Position:
The District Treasurer is responsible for managing the financial activities of locally generated and managed Chapter and district funds and provides related guidance including input on application of resources to the District Director and Leadership team. As a member of the
District Leadership Team, this role provides both strategic and operational support.
Essential Functions:
- Follow internal controls to safeguard the chapter’s assets. From time to time make suggestions to the HQ team on how controls can be improved.
- Ensures proper coding of financial transactions so SCORE Headquarters staff may record accurately.
- Approves, along with the District Director, and uploads Chapter Sponsorship Agreements for Activity Coding procedures, for all approved grant and sponsorship opportunities in the District.
- Follow the accounting policies and procedures provided on the Support Center.
- Comply with guidelines and restrictions provided by all grantors, donors, the SBA Cooperative Agreement Terms and Conditions, the Code of Federal Regulations and any other applicable law or regulations.
- Develop an annual budget in collaboration with the District Leadership Team.
- Monitors adherence to the budget and provides updates on financial standing, making recommendations for adjustments if needed.
- Ensures appropriate receipts and documentation for all expenditures.
- Works with the Fundraising Chairs to ensure funds raised are properly managed and recorded.
- Highlights financial risks and opportunities for the Leadership Team.
- Provides monthly financial updates to the District Director.
