Summary of Position:

The Community Outreach Chair is a critical member of the Chapter Leadership Team and is responsible for community outreach strategies and plans to build awareness of SCORE, increase service requests, support volunteer recruitment, and shine a light on local successes.

Essential Functions:

Shares SCORE's Mission and Vision through community partnerships, including, but not limited to:

  • Develop and foster community partnerships with like-minded organizations (e.g., Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development, local business groups, etc.) local media, and key stakeholders, collaborating with the Chapter Fundraising Chair or Chapter leader with this responsibility
  • Develop and maintain a contact list of local community partners and media using an HQ-provided spreadsheet template that can later be exported into Engage
  • Utilize branded SCORE collateral to inform partners and share the SCORE story (e.g., About SCORE PPT,  1 pager overview, brochures, etc.) and develop a localized narrative for utilization in partnership meetings
  • Stays “in the know”— follows small business news and events, engages with community partners on social media, maintains a content library of local facts, stats, and success stories
  • Attends key events and identifies/coordinates volunteers to represent SCORE at outreach activities and as local media spokespersons
  • Amplifies SCORE campaigns by sharing national updates, press releases, public service announcements, and news with local community partners and media
  • Gathers and submits client success story submissions and supports volunteer recognition locally and by sending to [email protected] and [email protected]
