The Chapter Public Relations Officer leads media relations and community outreach strategies to build awareness of SCORE, increase service requests, support volunteer recruitment and shine a light on local successes. SCORE HQ provides the support, resources and tools to conduct local outreach, build media relationships, tie in to national campaigns and foster community partnerships.

As the Public Relations officer for your chapter, you:

  • Contribute to and impact SCORE’s national and local PR/media efforts
  • Establish/foster local media and community relationships and conduct regular outreach
  • Support client success story development and publishing to SCORE.org
  • Garner media coverage of local SCORE success stories, events and chapter achievements
  • Encourage use of SCORE public service announcements locally
  • Develop and foster community partnerships with like-minded organizations (i.e. Chamber of Commerce, local business groups, etc.) and key stakeholders
  • Receive and share information on best practices

Depending on the volunteer bandwidth at your chapter, the person(s) serving as your Public Relations Officer might also be your marketing chair, events chair or member of chapter leadership. A district may identify a PR Officer responsible for multiple chapters.
