Best Practices for Using the Keyword Search Feature

  1. Limit to Three Keywords:
    • Remember, you can use up to three keywords. Make sure each keyword is distinct and pertinent to the search to maximize the effectiveness of the filter.
  2. Maximizing Search Results by Separating Keywords for Better Matches
    • Remember that the system looks for exact matches within the Subject Matter Expertise field. For instance, searching for "Bus Plan" as a single term may not return results because the system looks for exact matches of combined words. Instead, it's recommended to search for "Bus" and "Plan" as separate keywords to ensure a broader and more effective search.
  3. Prioritize and Use Relevant Keywords:
    • Choose and prioritize keywords that are highly relevant to the Subject Matter Expertise you are looking for. If you have more than three potential keywords, select those based on relevance and expected frequency in profiles. Look for keywords in the client's question to ensure more accurate and meaningful results. Avoid using overly generic terms, as they can yield too many results and make it harder to find the right match. Instead, use specific and descriptive terms.
  4. Combine with Other Filters:
    • Use Keyword Search in combination with other filters (e.g., Mentoring Type, Business Type) to narrow down the results and find the best match for your needs.
  5. Understand the Matching Logic:
    • Be aware that the Keyword Search uses a LIKE comparison, meaning that only one of the search terms needs to match. This helps you understand why certain results appear and refine your keyword choices accordingly.
  6. Review Search Results:
    • After running a search, carefully review the results to ensure they meet your criteria. This can help you refine your keyword selection for future searches. If you do not get any results, try resetting your search filters or searching using specific expertise keywords.
