Summary of Position: 

The Regional Vice President (RVP) is a Senior Volunteer Leadership role responsible for providing leadership and implementing the strategic and tactical objectives of the Organization. RVPs are selected for a 3-year commitment by the Vice President of Field Operations and the Executive Director.  The RVP provides strategic input to the Executive Leadership Team and Field Operations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, fostering collaboration, and serving as the primary liaison between District Directors, the Region’s team, and headquarters (HQ). This role is crucial in setting priorities for the Region’s Strategic and Operating Plans, driving operational excellence, and ensuring the successful implementation of plans and initiatives within the region to achieve maximum impact. 

 

Key Responsibilities:  

 

Leadership and Mentoring 

  • Provide leadership mentoring to chapter and district leaders. 

  • Identify and develop future leaders, including Regional Directors (RD), if appropriate for RVP succession, functional, operational, and strategic support, District Directors and Associate District Directors (DDs and ADDs) and Chapter Chairs (CCs). 

  • Assist DD’s/ADD’s with Chapter Chair succession planning. 

  • Act as a change agent to support the evolution and innovation within and across the organization. 

 

Collaboration and Communication 

  • Encourage collaboration and a culture of inclusion within and across districts, chapters, and other regions. 

  • Serve as the primary representative of regional volunteers to HQ and vice versa, ensuring effective communication and feedback loops. 

  • In conjunction with the assigned DD’s/ADD’s, facilitate effective and cooperative relationships with the SBA Regional Administrator, SBA District Administrators within the region, and other regional partner representatives. 

  • Amplify and support consistent messaging from HQ on strategy, processes, and policies. 

  • Engage with leaders and volunteers through virtual or in-person visits across the region. 

 

Accountability and Performance Management 

  • Oversee and implement plans for districts and chapters in line with their Annual Operating Plan. 

  • Allocate budgets across districts, ensuring alignment with needs and growth initiatives. 

  • Monitor and review district performance with district leaders, gathering innovations and successes to share within the organization. 

  • Conduct annual District Director Assessments and Action Plans, holding accountable for performance. 

  • Act as the final field escalation point for volunteer conflict resolution, before escalating to SCORE Headquarters. 

 

Strategic Planning and Execution 

  • Provide strategic advice to the Executive Leadership Team and Field Operations. 

  • Ensure compliance with SCORE Policies & Procedures. 

  • Provide regular status reports on progress and risks to delivery for prioritized efforts. 

 

Operational Excellence 

  • Drive operational excellence by optimizing processes and ensuring efficiency ensuring alignment with associated HQ processes. 

  • Identify and implement innovative solutions to improve operational efficiencies. 

 

Qualifications:  

 

  • 15+ year’s experience in business management, community development and small business experience preferred. 

  • Senior leadership experience. 

  • Recommended experience leading a SCORE District. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

  • Proven ability to manage budgets and financial resources effectively. 

  • Demonstrated experience in change management. 

  • Ability to foster collaboration and build effective relationships. 

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle complex situations.

  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership skills are crucial to guide the Region and its volunteers and employees towards achieving the Organizational goals. 

 

 

The Regional Vice President plays a pivotal role in ensuring the successful operation and growth of the region, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment, and maintaining alignment with the organization's overall strategy and goals.
